Radar control planned for 11th Street intersection
City would replace timer at Fourth Corso and 11th Street with four-approach radar

NEBRASKA CITY – City commissioners approved a plan Monday to upgrade the traffic lights at Fourth Corso and Central.
Construction and Facilities Manager Marty Stovall said the stoplights were installed with pressure sensors under the road surface, but said those sensors have not worked in years.
An uninsured motorist hit the cabinet that controlled the stoplights on Oct. 10. The Nebraska Department of Transportation supplied a new control cabinet on Monday.
The city approved a Wavetronix four-approach radar system, like the system used at 11th Corso and 11th Street, for the Fourth Corso intersection.
Stovall expects the new system to greatly improve traffic flow at the intersection.
