Presbyterian donation returns to agenda
Controlled burns proposed at Stanton Lake, SCC learning center

The Falls City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on March 17.
The agenda includes a community forest grant application, Earth Day Run at Stanton Lake, burning of green space at the Southeast Community College learning center, burning of cattail debris at Stanton lake, an $40,000 for new LED lighting at SNC field.
The USDA Forest Service awarded the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum $10 million in 2024 for a grant program to improve Nebraska’s community forestry.
The council will consider the donation of a building at 206 East 20th for the city use.
The First Presbyterian Church at 20th and Harlan has offered to donate the building, as well as the Steinway-designed Boston grand piano and pipe organ.
The lower level has a large room with a capacity of 90 people and a kitchen.
In a letter to the city, the congregation says the building would provide the city with opportunities for performing arts, conferences and used to expand the city’s reputation as the City of Art.
