Betty J. Wilmes, age 93 of Lincoln, NE (formerly Nebr. City) passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Eastmont Retirement Village in Lincoln, NE.

Betty Jean Wilmes was born on March 11, 1932 in Graham, MO; the daughter of Frazer Faye and Esther Marie (Gillespie) Noblet.  She grew up in Graham where she attended school through the 8th grade.  Betty attended 9th grade in Maryville, MO and then finished her schooling at Graham High School where she graduated with the class of 1950.  After high school, she attended Northwest Missouri State College at Maryville.

On June 6, 1953, Betty was united in marriage to John H. Wilmes in Maryville, MO and to this union three sons were born:  Mark, Mike and Jay.  While living in Nebraska City, Betty worked at Farmers Bank and Trust Company and also assisted her husband for many years in their Optometry Business.  She also worked at Dillard’s and Miller & Payne in Lincoln.  One of her favorite pastimes was playing in her Bridge Club.

She is survived by her sons:  Mark Wilmes of Ft. Worth, TX, Mike (Diane) Wilmes of Lincoln, NE and Jay (Ann) Wilmes of Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren:  Jordan Wilmes (Katie) of Grinnell, IA, Jacob Wilmes (Erin) of Louisville, NE, Abigail Zike (Dmitriy) of College Station, TX, Brad Clatterbuck of Castle Rock. CO and Shane Clatterbuck (Nicole) of Scottsdale,  AZ; 15 great-grandchildren:  Cadence, Brody, Dylan, Vivian, Nick, Logan, Grayson, Henry, Jack, Charlotte, Mia, Cam, Millie, Lily and Sophia; a brother J.D. Noblet and wife Carol of St. Joseph, MO; other family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Dr. John Wilmes on Nov. 11, 2009, her parents and seven siblings:  Richard, Don, Dean and David Noblet, Patricia Yokum, Nancy Barger and Mary Noblet.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City followed by a rosary/prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Saturday (3/15) at 1:00 p.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Graham, MO where she’ll be laid to rest next to her husband.

Memorials may be given to Prairie Home Cemetery in Graham, MO or Lourdes Central Catholic Endowment Fund.
