LINCOLN - State Sen. Bob Hallstrom has offered a legislative resolution that would put a proposed constitutional amendment on the November 2026 ballot to end the inheritance tax.

Sen. Robert Clements of Elmwood was among introducers. The constitutional amendment would prohibit the state or any political subdivision from levying an inheritance tax.

Other measures introduced by Sen. Hallstrom would allow for sexual assault protection orders, enact the Kratom Consumer Protection Act and protect entities that are victims of a cybersecurity attack from liabilities.

LB 254 would transfer $25 million from the general fund to workforce housing and declare an emergency.

LB 488 would require a peace officer to assume custody of a probationer or temporary custody of a juvenile upon request of a probation officer.

LB 575 Would allow political subdivisions to exceed the levy limit when it does not increase property taxes.

LB72 would add fentanyl and other substances to the controlled substance list and would not include polymorphs approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration as illegal psilocybin.
