VALENTINE, Neb. - The Cherry County Planning and Zoning Board is welcoming three new members as it prepares for the major task of updating the county’s comprehensive plan, which is a key document that guides development, land use, and growth across the county.

At Tuesday’s Board of Commissioner’s meeting, commissioners appointed Bill Wachob, Chad Tetherow, and Gary MacLeod to fill open positions on the board. The vacancies were created by terms ending and resignations.

The updated comprehensive plan is a significant undertaking for the board, with the new members stepping in at a pivotal time. Board members have been working on the plan for nearly five years, replacing the existing plan adopted in 1997, with zoning regulations last updated in 2008.
