Erratic driver clocked at 114 mph on snowy Highway 2
NEBRASKA CITY - Souvanh Sonthana, 48, of Lincoln is charged in Otoe County with driving with his license revoked on Jan. 4
An Otoe County Sheriff’s Office affidavit says a car with its emergency flashers on was traveling at 114 mph on Highway 2 under snowy and slick conditions. The deputy told the court the vehicle slowed down and made a U-turn west of Syracuse and another U-turn west of Unadilla. The affidavit says deputies pursued the vehicle until it went eastbound in the westbound lanes.
The vehicle came to a stop west of Nebraska City after tire spike deployment.
The affidavit says Sonthana exited the vehicle through a sun roof, did not respond to commands, opened the trunk of the vehicle and bit a deputy’s hand before he was placed into custody.
He was medically cleared at CHI Health St. Mary’s after stun gun use.
A $50,000 bond was set in county court.
