Winter storm warning for NW Missouri
Nodaway County announces warming stations
ROCK PORT - A winter storm warning has been issued for Atchison County.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill issued the warning for heavy mixed precipitation, sleet accumulations and between six and 13 inches of snow until Monday, Jan. 6.
Ice up to two-tenths of a inch and wind gust of 35 mph are expected.
Snow is likely from 6 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Monday.
The warning impacts Tarkio and Watson in Missouri and Brownville and Peru in Nebraska.
The Maryville Fire Department listed warning stations on its Facebook page to include the Maryville Rec Center, public library and Nodaway County Health Department at 2416
S. Main.
Emergency management advises precautions for those heating their home with an alternative source.
- -Make sure your chimney is clean
- -Never run a generator inside of your home
- -Do not use your kitchen oven to heat your home
- -If using a kerosene heater, make sure your space is well ventilated and the heater is at least 3 feet away from flammable objects.
- -If you experience a power outage, please report it to your utility company.
