Syracuse discusses removal of street brick

SYRACUSE - The Syracuse City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at city hall.
The agenda includes the one and six-year street plan, water improvement project and a utility maintenance position.
The six-year plan includes 25 blocks of street surfacing and removing the islands on both sides of Highway 50 and old highway 2. The city is also discussing the removal of the main street bricks from Plum to Mohawk streets and also Midland, Plum and Thorne streets north and south of Fifth Street.
The plan estimates costs for the one and six-year street plan at $4 million.
In other action, the Syracuse school is requesting use of Fifth Street for its Halloween parade on Oct. 31.
Kaci and Caleb Neuhalfen will be asking for a conditional use permit to place a utility shed on their property located at 1820 Birch St.
The city is also asking for a conditional use permit to construct a communications tower north of Syracuse.
