NEBRASKA CITY – A Tecumseh man entered a plea Monday to armed robbery of the Vape Town store in Syracuse on Mother’s Day.

Detharoun Sihakhom, 53, is accused of taking some cash and vape pens from the store after forcing the clerk into a backroom at gunpoint. A charge of false imprisonment was dropped in a plea agreement.

Sihakhom requested immediate sentencing, but Judge Julie Smith said pre-sentence investigation reports are used by corrections officials to place incoming inmates. She said the information helps protect the incoming inmates.

The judge ordered a 90-day evaluation by the corrections department and scheduled sentencing on Dec. 23.

At a preliminary hearing in June, a sheriff’s office investigator says a Syracuse resident photographed Sihakhom in a parking lot prior to the robbery and other residents reported seeing a person dressed in all black  travel through a city park walking away from the area of the Vape Town. Clothes matching witness descriptions were found at Sihakhom’s Tecumseh residence.
