STEINAUER -- Lori Gottula, a former administrative assistant and freelance writer from Auburn, is holding a book launch on Saturday, May 18, at the Falls City Library and Arts Center.

Gottula is scheduled for presentations at 2 and 5 p.m. with signings of her book “Broken and Chained: My First Thirty Days in the Hell Called Detox.”

She wrote the book while in detox from opiate painkillers that had been prescribed due to a chronic back injury. After 12 years, she hit rock bottom and realized what the addiction had done to her.

She is already planning her next book, “Breaking the Chains,” to describe her life changes, including walking for miles and giving her life to God.
