Auburn man charged with sexual assault

AUBURN – The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Auburn man Thursday on a warrant alleging first degree sexual assault of a child.

The arrest affidavit has been sealed, but a complaint filed in Nemaha County Court says 34-year-old Charles Kanode is charged with 19 counts alleging a single victim between March 9 of 2019 and July of 2020.

An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday and Kanode was arrested Thursday. He is scheduled for a Jan. 26 court hearing, where bond will be considered.
