Kenneth George Meyer

Kenneth George Meyer, age 61 of Nebraska City passed away peacefully March 3, 2024 at his home. Kenny was born February 22, 1963 in Omaha, the son of Adolph and Dorothy Lenore (Sheeley) Meyer. In 2003, Kenny transitioned from living at home with his parents to his residential home. It was there that not only Kenny, but his family had the privilege of meeting his amazing house mom, Chris Timothy. Chris and Kenny had an amazing bond. She was loving, kind, and compassionate. Chris was Kenny’s house mom for 21 years before retiring in 2023. Kenny also had two other important long-time caregivers in his life. One was Kelly Thompson, who took care of him at his home, and Virginia White who took care of him at the workshop, along with many other people who played vital roles in his life. Kenny had a deep love and devotion to his monkey. He also really enjoyed going for car rides with the windows down, especially when ice cream was involved. He also loved music, sitting outside on nice days, going on trips with his housemates, and working at the workshop. Kenny was a special individual who was able to live life to the fullest, thanks to the people who cared for him. Survivors include his brothers, Tim (Cathy) Meyer of Nebraska City and Fred (Marsha) Meyer of Omaha; sisters, Miriam Meyer of Plattsmouth, Gretchen (John) Cooper of Burr, Ruth (Wayne) Shaw of Parsons, KS and Mary (Bob) Porter of Wellington, KS; numerous nieces and nephews; special longtime caregivers, Chris Timothy, Kelly Thompson and Virginia White; many friends and staff at Apace.
