DANVILLE, IOWA – Iowa officials say the survival of Iowa’s largest sycamore tree is uncertain following a suspicious fire at Geode State Park on Feb. 8.

An Iowa Department of Natural Resources press release says the tree is estimated to be around 350 years old based on circumference and other measurements.

Park Ranger Andrew Kuckler said while the fire was extinguished, the tree was severely damaged.
