Wolverines Secure Two Wins in Sidney

SIDNEY, IA - East Mills picked up a pair of road wins in Sidney, Iowa, on Friday night, as heard on B103. The Wolverine girls grabbed a 50-39 win before the boys picked up a 54-35 victory at the Cowboys' place.
In the opener, East Mills built a 27-15 lead over Sidney by halftime, and the visiting ladies held on for the 11-point win. East Mills dominated with defense, holding a 32-11 advantage in turnovers. The Cowgirls fell despite holding a 44-35% shooting advantage. East Mills saw Jenna Thornburg drop in 13 points while grabbing five steals, and her teammate Loycee Palmer had eleven points, nine steals, and seven rebounds. Sidney's Lilly Peters turned in a double-double with eleven points & twelve boards. East Mills' girls now sit at 4-5 on the season, while the Cowgirls are at 2-7.
As for the guys, East Mills held a narrow 17-16 lead at recess before pulling away for the 54-35 win at the end. The Wolverines went just 8/22 at the free throw line & 2/14 from 3-point land, but they finished with just five TO's to Sidney's 17. East Mills got 15 points & 12 rebounds from Layne Mastin, while Kyler Williams added in eleven. Michael Hensley dropped in 14 points and snared nine boards for the Cowboys. The Wolverine boys now have a strong 8-1 record, while Sidney sits at 3-6.
