California woman sentenced after Otoe County deputy finds eight pounds of methamphetamine
Vehicles stopped after crossing Missouri River bridge into Iowa
OMAHA- Acting U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr announced that Daisy Flores, 22, of Fresno, Calif., was sentenced on Jan. 3, in federal court in Omaha for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
U.S. District Court Judge Brian Buescher sentenced Flores to 121 months imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. After her release from prison, Flores will begin a 3-year term of supervised release.
On Feb. 6, 2022, an Otoe County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a Ford Expedition near the Nebraska-Iowa border for a traffic violation. The Expedition was driven by Flores’s mother, Teresa Martinez, and Flores was the passenger.
A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately eight pounds of methamphetamine and approximately four pounds of marijuana. Crime laboratory testing of the methamphetamine confirmed purity of approximately 89 percent.
Martinez was sentenced in November to 87 months imprisonment.
This case was investigated by the Otoe County Sherriff’s Department and Homeland Security Investigations. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted with testing of the methamphetamine.
