DCSO: Hundreds of marijuana plants found during narcotics investigation, two arrested
Two people were arrested at a home in Douglas County where hundreds of marijuana plants were seized from a home, along with 13 dogs.
OMAHA, Neb. -- Two people were arrested at a home in Douglas County where hundreds of marijuana plants were seized from a home, along with 13 dogs.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said they arrested 43-year-old Travis Mountain and 45-year-old Emily Pearce following a narcotics investigation.
On Friday, Dec. 15, DCSO said deputies were assigned to the Special Operations Group. They executed a court authorized search warrant at a residence in the area of 96t and West Center Road in Omaha.
The narcotics investigation led to a search of the property.
While searching the property authorities said they found a large scale indoor marijuana grow operation in the basement of the home.
DCSO said in total they found about 350 separate marijuana plants in various stages of growth were seized from the home.
Authorities said they also found three adult Pit Bull mix dogs and 10 Pit Bull mix puppies.
In addition to the 13 dogs that were removed from the home, DCSO said they found discarded remains of a small unknown dog breed inside the garage of the residence.
The Nebraska Humane Society assisted with the safe removal of the dogs.
NHS will also assist with the Animal Cruelty/Neglect follow-up investigation.
Mountain and Pearce were both on the property and identified as the home owners.
Their 3-year-old child was also present.
DCSO said that Mountain and Pearce were taken into custody without incident and taken to the Douglas County Department of Corrections.
Both of them were booked for manufacturing marijuana - a controlled substance, non-injury child abuse by intent, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
DCSO said that Mountain and Pearce's children were placed into protective custody with DHHS.
