PERU, NE - The Peru State women's basketball team fell in a conference matchup to the Baker Wildcats in Peru on Wednesday, 85-75. The Bobcats are now 1-5 in the Heart of America conference and 4-6 overall.
 
The Bobcats started the first quarter hot with a layup by Maddy Duncan (Sr., Hamburg, IA) followed by multiple free throws from Hailey Ingram (Jr., Omaha, NE) and Natasha Deal (Jr., Winnebago, NE). Kaylan Larry (Sr., Little Rock, AR) finished out the quarter for the Bobcats with two 3-pointers and a jumper to total eight points to complete the quarter.
 
In the second quarter, layups by Kaylan Larry and Kylie Diaz (Fr., Albertville, MN) kept the Bobcats alive as they kept pushing back the Wildcats throughout the quarter. Final free throws by Maddy Duncan finished out the second quarter. Kylie Diaz led the quarter with seven points and three rebounds followed by Maddy Duncan with five points. The Bobcats led at half 42-28.
 
Olivia Williams (Sr., Minneapolis, MN) began he third quarter for the Bobcats with a good layup. Layups from Samantha Stewart (Sr., Mount Ayr, IA) and Maddy Duncan and a 3-pointer from Duncan as she scored five points for the Bobcats in the quarter, finished the quarter as the Wildcats were able to pull ahead 61-57.
 
In the final quarter of the game, Kaylan Larry started the quarter with back to back jumpshots for the Bobcats. The Bobcats continued to fight with a final 3-pointer from Kaylan Larry but their efforts couldn't stop the Wildcats as they took the win 85-75.
 
Kaylan Larry led the team with 20 pints and four rebounds followed closely by Maddy Duncan with 15 points, four rebounds and two steals. Hailey Ingram had 11 points with six assists for the Bobcats with Kylie Diaz having ten points, four rebounds and three blocks. Samantha Stewart had eight points against the Wildcats with six rebounds and five steals. Natasha Deal followed closely with seven points, four rebounds and two steals.
 
The Bobcats take on the Missouri Valley College Vikings on Saturday, December 9. Tipoff is set for 2:00 PM. Go Bobcats!
