Veterans Memorial Building hosts speakers, events

Military service program Friday at 2:30 p.m.

 NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City Veteran’s Memorial Building Project is hosting events and speakers on the Veteran’s Day weekend Nov. 10 and 11.

Events begin Friday at 7:30 a.m. with the free veterans breakfast hosted by the Nebraska City Middle School. An open house follows.

A military service program is planned from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Speakers include:

  • Lynn Heng, active National Guard
  • Bryan Bequette, retired U.S. Army
  • Rebecca Austin, retired U.S. Marine
  • Jim D. Kuhn, former U.S. Navy

On Saturday, Nov. 11 a dedication of a new, 30-foot flagpole is planned at Veterans Row at Wyuka Cemetery.

The dedication is followed by an open house at the Veterans Memorial Building.  Quilts of Valor presentations are scheduled at 1 and 3 p.m.
