TECUMSEH – The Johnson County Attorney’s Office has filed charges alleging sexual abuse and assault within the Tecumseh State Correctional Institute.

Two inmates are charged with assaults on the same inmate, a 31-year-old Lincoln man serving a 30-year sentence for sexual assault in Lancaster County.

Nathaniel Grant, 26, of Tecumseh and Dylan Valdez, 25, of Grand Island are charged with assaulting the inmate in February.  Grant is serving a two-year sentence for possession and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest in Dakota County. He is scheduled for a parole hearing four months from now.

A Nebraska Department of Corrections investigator says Valdez bit and struck his cellmate multiple times in the face and body.

In a separate case, Anthony Dan, 47, of Lincoln  is charged with sexual abuse of an inmate on Oct. 7, 2022. He is serving a 20-year sentence for assault in Douglas County.

Dan moved for dismissal of his case in July saying he had not received an attorney, had not received a new court date and his right to a speedy trial had been violated.

Inmate Jonathan Palmer, 32, of Tecumseh is charged with assault and possession of deadly weapon on Jan. 28, 2020.

Palmer is accused of injuring a prison corporal and possessing a knife or brass knuckles.
