Highest risk from northern Iowa to Indiana

OMAHA - Fremont and Mills counties in Iowa and Otoe and Cass counties in Nebraska are in a severe thunderstorm watch until midnight.

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has portions of southwest Iowa and northeast Nebraska in a slight risk for severe weather and the remainder of River Country in marginal risk.

The greatest risk for severe weather is from northern Iowa to Indiana. The slight risk category shifts to the Nebraska panhandle on Saturday.

An excessive heat warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. Friday. Heat index values in the 110 to 115 range are forecast.
