VALLEY, Neb. -- A series of storms that started just before 2:00 a.m. Monday moved south throughout the early morning hours on Monday.

The National Weather Service began issuing severe weather storms early Monday, starting with a number of northeast Nebraska communities.

The warnings then moved into far southeast Nebraska before sliding into Iowa and Missouri. All of the severe thunderstorms in Nebraska have since expired.

Now the issue for much of Nebraska will be the heat and humidity, with 54 of Nebraska's 93 counties in a heat advisory for at least the next two days. Heat index values are expected to rise as high as 110 degrees, with the advisories stretching from near the Panhandle to the far southeast corner of the state.
