SYRACUSE, Neb. -- The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports arrests after a pursuit of a stolen minivan Thursday.

Deputies from Cass and Otoe counties were assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol in the pursuit, which ended with deployment of a tire deflation device near Syracuse.

A Cass County deputy attempted to stop an Iowa-plated Dodge Caravan on Highway 75, when the vehicle accelerated heading west on Highway 66.

Speeds reached 110 mph until the pursuit was called off when entering Louisville to mitigate danger to citizens.

The pursuit resumed when the Dodge Caravan emerged on the west side of Louisville on Highway 50 heading southbound into Otoe County.

Two attempts with spike strips by Nebraska State Patrol were unsuccessful until a third deployment stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Highways 2 and 50, where Cass County deputies made two arrests.

The driver of the minivan, 29-year-old Curtis Oakman, is suspected of felony flight and willful reckless driving.

The passenger is suspected of obstruction and was arrested an outstanding Lancaster County warrant.
