CENTENNIAL, Colo. - NioCorp reports that it has tested a new recovery process that might double the projected titanium recovery rates for the Elk Creek project in Nebraska.
The company says its demonstration plant in Quebec has shown the company’s new process can likely achieve an 83.7 percent rate of overall titanium recovery to a final product. The company’s previous approach is around 40 percent recovery.
NioCorp’s feasibility study shows about 431,000 tonnes of titanium dioxide at the Elk Creek site. The tonne used in NioCorps’s press release means 1,000 kilograms.
