Richardson County approves armor coating for dustless roads
County board moving meetings from Tuesday to Wednesday to avoid conflict with court dates

FALLS CITY - Steve Darveau Jr. of the Richardson County roads department presented the county board Tuesday with a summary of the one and six-year roads plan.
The plan includes 11 projects on the one-year plan and 15 additional on the six-year plan at a projected cost of $10.5 million.
The one-year plan includes 17 miles of armor coating and one bridge.
The six-year plan includes three bridge projects expected to cost over $2 million each.
A public hearing for the plan is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 21.
The county is also planning armor coating projects that include:
- 10.6 miles on 712 Road and 656 Avenue ending at Highway 159
- .8 miles of 633 Avenue near Highway 8 and 4.1 miles to the Kansas line
- .6 miles in unincorporated village of Preston
- .7 miles in Village of Barada
The board voted to hire Skyline Construction for courthouse roof repairs at $178,850 and fire escape painting at $47,600.
The board voted to change its meeting dates from every Tuesday to every Wednesday beginning on March 8.
