Man yet to be deemed competent to stand trial for 2021 murder
A 44-year-old man charged with the murder of a Creighton director of baseball operations has been deemed not competent to stand trial.
OMAHA, Neb. -- A 44-year-old man charged with the murder of a Creighton director of baseball operations has been deemed not competent to stand trial.
In June, Ladell A. Thornton, was ruled not competent after a competency restoration report was done May 19, and was deemed not competent to stand trial again on Tuesday.
Court documents said if Lincoln Regional Center deems Thornton competent within 60 days of the last ruling, his trial could be sooner.
Thornton has been accused for the murder of Christopher Gradoville, Creighton Baseball Director of Operations.
Thornton was charged with first degree murder, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a deadly weapon by prohibited person following the shooting of Gradoville last September.
A review hearing has been set for Jan. 5, 2023.
