Papillion is looking for a new fire chief.
After 16 years leading the Sarpy County town's fire and rescue operations, and 38 years in the fire-fighting business, Bill Bowes is retiring.
Chief since 2006, Bowes turned the once volunteer department into a fully professional staff and played a key role in bringing fire and emergency operations into neighboring LaVista as the two cities partnered up, with two fire stations in each town.
The two units combined have 60 firefighters and eight staff members.
Bowes is set to retire March 31st.
