Troy Eugene Walters met his Savior face to face Tuesday, September 27th, 2022, at home surrounded by family. Troy was born July 13th, 1931 in Nebraska City to Roy and Emma (McGinnis) Walters. Troy attended grade school in Neb City and in 1948 graduated from Nebraska City High School. During that time, he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and was a pitcher and third baseman. In 1948 his team played in the World Series Youth Tournament Division in Saint Joseph, MO. While in high school, and after graduation, he worked for JC Penny. Troy had a passion for roller skating and that passion turned to love when he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Wadley, at a roller-skating rink. Troy dated Elizabeth and during that time became a Christian and was baptized by Rev. John Nelson at the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh. Rev. Nelson later married Troy and Elizabeth on February 2, 1951. In the early months of their marriage, Troy and Elizabeth lived in Nebraska City and then moved their trailer house to the Wadley family farm where he would later renovate a small house which is still the home place. In the summer of 1952 twin daughters were born and sons in 1959 and 1967.

Troy worked for James’ Gas Station for seven years and Ettlemen’s Hardware before beginning a carpentry partnership with Homer Mitchell. Later he also would partner with Lavern and Dwayne Bartels doing construction. In Troy’s construction career he built over 40 new homes along supervising projects for low rent housing in Tecumseh and Pawnee City. He also was involved in the extensive renovation of the Tecumseh Court House under Walters and Walters Construction. Troy served as a County Commissioner for twenty years for District 2, a job that he loved. He enjoyed and appreciated working with the staff at the courthouse. In later years he served as the City Building Inspector in Tecumseh. In the mid 1990 B&W Enterprises was established as a grave digging business. He and his son Ben also cut firewood and hedge posts and even raised a few cattle.

The love of the Lord grew in Troy and Elizabeth’s marriage. First Baptist Church was an intimate part of that growth. Troy began teaching an adult Sunday School Class named the “Homebuilders”, with Elizabeth at his side, He taught that class for nearly seven decades. What a celebration that will be when all the members of the Homebuilder’s class all get together again. He also served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Building Trustee while he faithfully shared the love of Christ in the church and community.

Preceding Troy in death were his parents, Roy and Emma, wife Elizabeth, heaven born son Ervan Marten Walters, brother Joy; sister Darlene.
