Slama visits 37 towns in legislative district
State senator shares vision of future for southeast Nebraska
NEBRASKA CITY – State Sen. Julie Slama took time during the interim of the legislative session to visit each of the 37 towns in District 1 and says she found common ground with visions for southeast Nebraska’s future.
Her stops included town halls in Falls City and Table Rock, scheduled constituent services and door-to-door knocking. By Friday, she called it a great experience.
Slama: “We’ve had some really great discussions about the issues people care about and, at the end of the day, it’s my job to serve the people of District 1. They are my bosses, so, I’m taking really good care to listen to them.”

At Burr and Douglas she shared her concerns about a proposed wind turbines. She says he has worked on legislation that protects land rights and provides protections for landowners when dealing with wind energy.
In Richardson County, she photographed a memorial to the legendary Antoine Barada and checked out the new stage at Wild Bill’s in Rulo.
Her stops in Nemaha County included Coryell Park and she posted a photo of the post office in Crab Orchard as part of her Johnson County tour. She visited the newly renovated library in Johnson.
She said from Falls City to Otoe, people are sharing common goals and great hopes.
Slama: “Everybody is just excited about the future and the potential of their towns, which is something I am fully in support of. I’m looking forward in policy, not just in the next year, not just next few years, but the next 10 and 20 years for southeast Nebraska because this is the place I’m going to raise my kids, raise my family and, like a lot of the young people here, I want to see southeast Nebraska grow for generations to come.”
Slama and her husband Andrew celebrated completion of 37 towns in one week with“wing night” at the Lorton Lounge.
