Police investigate new violence against women cases in Nebraska City

NEBRASKA CITY – Otoe County officials report incidents of violence against women in Nebraska City over the Fourth of July weekend, including separate allegations of false imprisonment, domestic strangulation and using an AR-15 to commit a felony.
Judge David Partsch set at $75,000 bond Tuesday for 39-year-old Joshua Schneider, who is suspected of temporarily preventing a woman from leaving his 12th Corso residence while holding an AR-15 pattern rifle. He is also suspected of threatening to kill her father, if he showed up at the property.
Court records say Schneider did not respond to commands from the patrol car’s public address system for about an hour before he was taken into custody.
Deputy Otoe County Attorney Sarah Wiltse said while Schneider does not have a criminal history, the weapons charge carries a mandatory minimum of five years in prison.
On July 3, police arrested a 39-year-old Nebraska City man for suspicion of assault by strangulation, terroristic threats and domestic assault.
A Blair man was arrested for possession of a deadly weapon and a Sterling man was arrested for possession of illegal drugs.
