Frisbee golf approved at Williams Park
Syracuse to close main street for youth wrestling match
SYRACUSE - Nathanial Cordray presented a proposal to Mayor Deb Dettmer and the Syracuse city council to construct a frisbee golf course located in Williams park.
The golf course will be constructed on the north side of 11th Street. Completion time is estimated in July.
No parking signs will be placed at the corner of 17th and Cherle Drive and also on the west side of Plum Street from Ninth St to 11th streets.
The council also adopted an ordinance regarding the shooting off of fireworks. There will be no fireworks shot off from the hours of 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m. from June 24th to July 5th, a $500 disturbing the peace fine could be imposed on those not complying with the ordinance..
A fundraising event is planned on Fifth Street. The wrestling mat club has asked permission from Syracuse City Council to close Fifth Street from Midland to Mohawk on Saturday Aug. 6 from 4 to 11 p.m.
The Beer Stein applied for a SDL to serve alcohol at the event.
Councilman Jerry Werner expressed concerns of serving alcohol at a youth event, and also voted no. Councilmen Halvorsen, Gigstad and Councilwoman Laramie Werner voted yes.
The Mat club will host the event for a fundraiser. Syracuse youth will wrestle against Wahoo Newman. The area will be gated off.
Mayor Dettmer and City council went into closed session regarding the Aqua center bathhouse and the Water Improvement project.
Tim WIlson of the Syracuse Rescue Squad asked for a pay and was granted an increase to the officers' monthly stipend.
