Nebraska City set to host Treestock Independence Day Festival

NEBRASKA CITY - Nebraska City’s annual 4th of July celebration has grown into a three-day festival focused on family fun.
The Treestock Independence Day Celebration is a collaboration between Nebraska City Tourism & Commerce, the City of Nebraska City, the Nebraska City Jaycees, and a multitude of other community organizations. Activities take place July 2, 3, and 4 in Steinhart Park.
SATURDAY, JULY 2, EVENTS
The first official Treestock event is at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 2. It is an all-ages Color Dash organized by the Ambassador Wellness Center. The Dash starts in the Steinhart Aquatic Center for the wet portion of the event; as the one-mile route snakes through Steinhart Park, participants will encounter slime, colored powder, bubbles, paint, and more. The Treestock Beer Garden, located in the large grassy area on the Central Avenue side of Steinhart Park, is scheduled to open on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The Beer Garden will house two major events on Saturday: a cornhole tournament and live music.
A fundraiser for the Nebraska City High School Pioneer football program, the Cornhole Tournament begins at noon. Organizers of the event are attempting to set a world record for the most teams participating in a cornhole tournament. Registration forms are available online at nebraskacity.com/festival/independence-day-celebration. Walk up registrations the day of the event are also welcome.
A wide variety of music by regional bands make up the all-day concert on Saturday. The stage and seating area for the live music will be in the Beer Garden. The Wildwoods kick things off at 1 p.m. with an Americana folk sound. At 3 p.m., the Bolzen Beer Band bring punk polka to the stage. Rock group Mike Semrad & the Riverhawks perform at 5 p.m. and country star Sheila Greenland headlines at 7 p.m. There is no fee to enter the Beer Garden and enjoy the music; identification will be checked at the entrance.
Sass & Frass Creations will have a booth in the Beer Garden selling Treestock t-shirts and their own stock during the day.
Bethel Church is hosting a Family Fun Day Saturday on their property at 2400 Central Avenue. Their event will feature food trucks, bounce houses, a watermelon feed, and a dunk tank. The Steinhart Aquatic Center will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. and a carnival will be set up in the pool parking lot.
The Nebraska City Jaycees will host their annual Ice Cream Social Saturday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the air-conditioned Steinhart Lodge. Live music will also be part of the Social, including performances by the Southeast Nebraska Community Band and Nebraska City’s barbershop choruses. Saturday’s festivities end at dusk with the Jaycee’s Fireworks Show, best viewed from Clemmy Holmes Field, the terraces outside the Steinhart Lodge, or by renting a lounge chair in the Aquatic Center.
SUNDAY, JULY 3, EVENTS
Events for the Treestock Independence Day Festival on Sunday, July 3, start with a Show & Shine Car Show organized by the River City Classics Car Club. The car show, which is free to enter and attend, will start in the parking lot east of the Steinhart Aquatic Center. It runs from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Nebraska City Ministerial Association is planning a Community Worship Service for Sunday morning at 9 a.m. It will be held on the Central Avenue side of Steinhart Park and feature the music and message of ReLeasT Ministry Band. The Community Worship Service will be followed by breakfast from The Pancake Man, served from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Sunday also includes Family Game Day in the Park. From noon until 3 p.m., various family-friendly games will be available throughout Steinhart Park for all ages to play. Games include croquet, cornhole, tug of war, bocce ball, and more.
In addition, the Steinhart Aquatic Center will be open from 1 to 8 p.m.
MONDAY, JULY 4, EVENTS
Treestock on Independence Day start with a two-person scramble at Wildwood Golf Course. The scramble tees off at 9 a.m. and is a fundraiser for future Treestock events. Teams can register by calling the Wildwood Clubhouse.
The Nebraska City Legion Baseball team hosts two games on Monday, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The Steinhart Aquatic Center is open from 1 to 8 p.m.
