NEBRASKA CITY – A Nebraska City man is being held on a $50,000 bond on a robbery charge on Sunday.

An arrest affidavit says police were searching the area after a Third Avenue resident reported he had been robbed at gunpoint before 6 a.m.

In an arrest affidavit, Officer Ryan Graff said he was armed with a rifle and on foot while looking for a suspect. He said a man wearing a black coat, black stocking cap, green bandanna over his face, black latex gloves and black backpack crossed his path. He said the man fled on foot north of 17th Street.

Police Sgt. Dana Ritcheart cornered the man in a driveway at 1714 Fourth Ave. Officer Graf used a stun gun when the suspect refused the sergeant’s orders.

The backpack had an aluminum hatchet, flashlight, five pairs of gloves, and an empty Smith and Wesson magazine.  Police are still looking for a firearm.

The driveway was at the residence of 28-year-old James Dunn, who is charged with robbery, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest. He was held Monday on a $50,000 bond.

The homeowner, Clayton Rakes, told police he was awoke by a noise and went outside to investigate.

He said he saw damage to a door of his house and was then encountered by a man wearing black with a green bandanna.

Rakes said the man displayed a gun and demanded his wallet. Rakes said he took cover behind his pickup truck and the suspect fled.
