Tarkio Tech dedicating wind tower nacelle
Equipment exposes students to inner-workings of wind technology
TARKIO, Mo. - Tarkio Technology is adding a wind tower nacelle to its campus through the generosity of Invenergy, Ameren and Vestas.
A college news release says the 120-ton nacelle has a value of more than $2 million and is in original condition.
John Davis, president of Tarkio Technology Institute, said the equipment is valuable for the training program as students are not allowed into an actual working tower until they are employed.
Davis: “This provides Tarkio Tech’s wind students an opportunity to become familiar with the environment inside the nacelle long before their first day on the job.”
A dedication ceremony is scheduled at noon on Thursday, April 28, at the campus on 402 N. 13th St.
