FALLS CITY – The Falls City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on April 4.

The agenda includes an audit report, sales tax issue open house, Earth Day Walk, Stone Street golf carts, Legion Park slide, EDGE report, land acquisition and energy grant.

The 2022 Tanner Shelby Merz Foundation Color Run is scheduled Saturday, May 1, beginning at 1 p.m. on Stanton Lake.

Community Medical Center is planning Earth Day activities on Sunday, April 24, beginning at noon on April 24. Live music, crafts, yoga and nature projects, as well as 1 mile and 5k fun run.

The EDGE reports includes current projects, including the hiring of a lobbyist to assist Sen. Slama’s bill for a power transmission line to Falls City. The $15 million bill has two more rounds of debate to go through. The City of Falls City has not committed any funds.

EDGE recommends the sale of a parcel in the Industrial Park for construction of a 5,000-square-foot metal building.

EDGE is also supportive of the city establishing a code enforcement officer to improve housing.

Land at 33rd Street near the hospital, rural fire and Packrat storage is under purchase agreement. The city will consider hiring a construction engineer and pursue bids for street construction.
