Deputy says car crashed after pursuit terminated
NEBRASKA CITY – The Otoe County Attorney’s Office has obtained an arrest warrant for a Palmyra man suspected of involvement in a police pursuit and crash on Nov. 26.
An arrest affidavit says a sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop of a Chevrolet Equinox near 10th and G roads. The car was going in excess of 100 mph on a county road and ran three stop signs. The deputy terminated the pursuit when the Equinox entered the village of Douglas.
The affidavit says an hour later, dispatch received a call of a car that had crashed west of Douglas. The deputy found the Equinox in the ditch with front end damage after hitting a tree. The driver was not found.
The county judge has ordered the arrest of 31-year-old Karl Gerstenschlager.
