Peru State defense: one of the best in the country

(Peru, Neb.) – At the conclusion of the regular season the Peru State Football team on the defensive side of the ball was elite.
In the regular season the 'Cats defense gave up 211.3 total yards per game which was 2nd in the NAIA. Opposing teams averaged 154.3 pass yards per game which was good for 4th in the NAIA.
No NAIA team was better against the run than the Bobcats. The Peru State defense gave up an astonishing 57.0 rushing yards per game which was good for 1st in the NAIA.
The Bobcats tied for 4th in the NAIA in sacks during the regular season with College of Idaho, Kansas Wesleyan and Morningside with each team having 36 sacks on the year.
The elite defense would get nine Peru State Football players recognized for all-conference honors.
Peru State would finish the 2021 season going 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division.
