OTOE – Two injuries were reported Friday afternoon after two trucks and semi-trailers hauling recently harvested crops collided at the intersection of roads C and 40 northeast of Otoe.

Syracuse, Dunbar, Nebraska City and Avoca emergency crews were among those who responded, as well as LifeNet Helicopter from Omaha.

The driver of an eastbound truck, Keegan Pope, was taken by medical helicopter with an injury that was described at the scene as serious, but not life-threatening. A passenger in the truck, Craig Hemje, was taken by ambulance with a leg injury.

The driver of the southbound truck, Steven Berner, refused transport.

A power pole was broke and fell on the accident scene,  but emergency crews said it did not prevent rescue operations.
