AUBURN -  Auburn completed its sales tax year in September showing another record-setting year.

The city collected $575,826 in 2021, about $65,000 higher than last year’s record high.

The city has gained in sales tax collections every year  except 2016 through 2018.

There was a monthly decline for the first month of the pandemic in April of 2020, but the sales taxes rebounded.

Auburn had only one month above $50,000 prior to the start of the pandemic. Since then, the city has collected over $50,000 four times.
