Body of missing Plattsmouth man found
PLATTSMOUTH - The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports the recovery of the body of a Buccaneer Bay man who has been missing since Sept. 4.
John Zarkowski, 72, was last seen driving his Chevy Tahoe and a family member contacted Adventures With a Purpose that happened to be in Omaha.
The company travels the United States free of charge to assist families and law enforcement with finding loved ones under water.
A sheriff's office press release says Cass County investigators and AWP searched numerous waterways in Cass County and Bellevue on Sept. 21.
Around sunset, AWP located the Tahoe about 520 yards south of the Plattsmouth boat dock and about 30 feet off the river bank.
The sheriff says additional dive teams from the Omaha Fire Department and Yutan assisted the following day. The City of Plattsmouth provided a bulldozer and operator to clear a path to the work zone for Neff Towing.
The Tahoe was pulled out of the river with Zarkowski still inside.
