Is Nebraska committed to the run game?
NEBRASKA CITY – Former Nebraska I-back and Big 10 analyst Damon Benning professed the value of commitment to an offensive identify for his audience last week at the Big Red Buzz in Nebraska City.
Benning: “Illinois was committed to being who they are. Now it turns out it wasn’t good enough against UTSA … (uneasy chuckling) “but it got them through against Nebraska.”
Because, how are you the very next week the same team that had 65 hand-off runs against Fordham, but only gave the ball to your running backs 19 times against Illinois? They have to reconcile. It’s not a criticism. I’m connecting the dots for you. So, whoever Nebraska wants to be going forward is all about commitment. It’s not a talent issue.”
Benning, an Omaha radio personality and football coach, spoke at the event hosted at Valentino's Restaurant prior to the Buffalo game.
Against Buffalo, Nebraska had 31 hand offs to running backs.

Nebraska’s rushing offense is 20th in the country with 240 yards per game.
Oklahoma is ranked 18th in passing offensive, while Nebraska comes in at 36th.
The Huskers have a better third down conversion percentage after three games. Nebraska converts .521 of its third downs, compared to .458 for Oklahoma.
In passing yards allowed, Oklahoma's defense is not in the top 50, but Nebraska’s defense is ranked 48th giving up 182 yards per game.
