NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City School Board’s agenda tonight includes setting a date for a special levy override election.

A proposed resolution says “it is necessary to exceed the maximum levy set by state law,” and calls for a special election on Tuesday, May 11.

The proposed ballot language:

“Shall Otoe County School District 66-0111, commonly known as Nebraska City Public Schools, be allowed to levy a property tax not to exceed nine cents per one hundred dollars of valuation in excess of the limits and exemptions prescribed by law for fiscal years 2021-22 through 2025-26 for the purposes of general operations ...”

A vote of yes will authorize the school district to exceed the tax levy. A vote no will deny authority to exceed the tax levy.
