Unadilla Bill picks spring for last forecast
Brandt introduces Unadilla Billie in virtual Groundhog's Day ceremony

UNADILLA – Unadilla Bill predicted an early spring as the last forecast of his 33-year career.
Nebraska’s top groundhog got his nickname from Lt. Gov. Bill Nichol, who proclaimed Unadilla as the Groundhog Capital of Nebraska in 1988.
On Monday, Taxidermist Duane Hanson presented Unadilla Bill’s new apprentice, Unadilla Billie.
Bob Brandt of Unadilla announced prior to this morning's virtual Groundhog’s Day ceremony that Unadilla Billie will take over spring forecasting next year.
Unadilla Bill waxed poetically for his last forecast: “Roses are red, Unadilla Bill is blue. An early spring is my last forecast ever, now it’s time for someone new.”
