Johnson County attorney among candidates for judicial appointment
Four applicants will be considered at Jan. 25th hearing
BEATRICE – A week from today, January 25th, a Judicial Nominating Commission will review four applicants for the position of County Court Judge, in the First Judicial District.
Amanda Spracklen-Hogan, Jeffrey A. Gaertig and Lee Timan, all of Beatrice; and Richard R. Smith, Cook, are seeking the appointment to fill a vacancy created by the retirement last year, of County Judge Steven Timm. Spracklen-Hogan is the Chief Deputy Gage County Attorney. Jeff Gaertig is a private practice attorney in Beatrice. Lee Timan is the current Gage County Public Defender. Richard R. Smith is the Johnson County Attorney.
The primary office of the position will be in Gage County. The First Judicial District includes Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee, Richardson, Saline, and Thayer counties.
A public hearing of the Judicial Nominating Commission will be held via WebEx at the Gage County Courthouse, County Courtroom, Third Floor in Beatrice, at 10:00 a.m., January 25th. The Commission will review all applicants for the office at that time.
The Chair of the Commission will be present at the Gage County Courthouse, and Commission members and applicants will participate in the hearing via WebEx.
Any member of the public can present testimony for the Commission’s consideration may do in one of two ways...written form sent to the Judicial Nominating Commission, or oral testimony by attending the county courtroom hearing.
