Police report lower crime rate during pandemic year of 2020
Falls City police report fewer assaults, crimes against family and narcotic offenses

FALLS CITY – The Falls City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Jan. 18.
The agenda includes a $3 million utility bond for wastewater and water infrastructure, sale of properties at 221 W. 14th and 1613 Abbott streets.
Sheriff Rick Hardesty and a county commissioner will discuss 911 dispatching.
The police department gave an annual report at a prior meeting.
There were 384 911 hang ups or misdials, 775 ambulance calls, 104 fire calls, 292 animals calls and 200 reports of a suspicious person.
Police issued 275 traffic citations and gave 602 warnings.
Compared to last year, shoplifting cases rose from 12 to 24, but assaults were down from 60 to 43. Offenses against family were also down from 73 to 47. Narcotic offenses were also down from 53 to 23.
Overall, the number of offense was down from 391 to 284.
In other action, Jerrold Jones has submitted a bid of $1,035 for property at 1613 Abbott St.
