Iowa woman captured in Cass County
PLATTSMOUTH - Cass County Sheriff William Brueggemann reports an Iowa pursuit that ended in Cass County on New Year’s Day.
Cass County dispatch was advised at 3:45 a.m. that Mills county Iowa deputies were in pursuit of a red trailblazer that had fled from a traffic stop. Mills County advised that the sole female occupant, Dakota Girouex of Council Bluffs, was wanted for on a warrant for escape out of Iowa and was currently a subject of a felony controlled substance investigation.
A sheriff's office press release says a deputy observed the vehicle in Plattsmouth and attempted to make a stop. The vehicle then fled through Plattsmouth at speeds of 45-50 mph. The pursuit then went out of Plattsmouth and onto Ashland road.
The pursuit was terminated due to losing sight of the vehicle.
Later deputies received information that the female party was on near the Platte River Toll Bridge.
The press release says a deputy located the vehicle on Highway 75 near Bay Road. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled again.
The pursuit reached speeds of 100 mph before turning onto Ashland Road. The vehicle was pursued into Cedar Creek. Deputies along with troopers from the Nebraska state patrol searched the area.
The vehicle, which has been reported stolen, was located abandoned. The female driver was located hiding in a resident's overturned boat and identified as 23-year-old Dakota Girouex of Red Oak Iowa.
Girouex advised that she was not alone and the male party she was with was armed and dangerous. A search of the area was conducted but no evidence of another parties were found.
Further investigation revealed that these were false accusations.
Girouex was transported to Midlands's hospital for exposure and released into the sheriff's custody.
