Prison staff member injured in assault
Corrections department says inmate refused order to stop blocking doorway

TECUMSEH – The Nebraska Department of Corrections reports that an inmate assaulted a staff member at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution on Thursday, Oct. 29, resulting in injuries.
A press release says the staff member was assaulted after giving the inmate multiple directives to return to his housing unit and stop blocking the doorway.
The inmate is accused of punching the staff member and knocking her to the ground.
The press release says additional personnel stopped the attack with chemical spray and placed the inmate in restraints.
The housing area where the assault occurred was placed on modified operations while the investigation into the incident continued.
The staff person was treated at a local hospital for her injuries.
Results of the investigation will be provided to the county attorney for determination of criminal prosecution.
The NDCS disciplinary process will be utilized with sanctions, such as loss of good time, applied according to the rules and regulations.
