Back the Blue, Political Campaigns At Parade
NEBRASKA CITY – The AppleJack Parade Saturday began with the traditional VFW Color Guard and emergency services and continued with political campaigns and patriotism.
Shelley Ramage: “I’m just glad to see everybody out here. This is a time in the country when we need to be united. We need to be together and what a better place to be than the parade for our hometown.”
Nearly 50 people took part in the Back the Blue parade entry that was led by Nebraska State Trooper Bill Rowell.
The 192d Military Police Detachment provided security services for NCTC and handed out water bottles for band members at the conclusion of the parade.
Several candidates were in the parade including candidates for the the U.S. House Republican Jeff Fortenberry and Democrat Kate Bolz.
For state Legislature, Julie Slama and Janet Palmtag marched and the Trump 2020 float drew noticeable crowd reactions.
Nebraska City mayor candidates Bryan Bequette and Tim Morgan were joined by U.S. Ben Sasse, state Sen. Rob Clements in the parade lineup.
