Sisters Plan Groundbreaking For Spiritual Center

NEBRASKA CITY – The Franciscan Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother have scheduled a groundbreaking on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the new location of a motherhouse and spiritual center in Nebraska City.

Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz will officiate the 1 p.m. blessing and groundbreaking ceremony at 6157 Park Road.

The Franciscan Sisters have been active in Nebraska since Bishop Bruskewitz granted them permission to reside in the Lincoln Diocese in 2000.

They are involved in catechetical work and Hispanic ministry in the Nebraska City area.

The sisters own a 10-acre property with mature trees. The spiritual ministry center will feature a chapel, private parlor, lending library and classrooms.
