SIDNEY – The Fremont County Public Health Department credits four confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county to citizens who are taking steps to avoid the spread of the disease.

Director Jamie Behrends said taking prevention seriously decreases infection risk.

In a press release Friday, the health department offered advice for summer events.

  • Guests should stay home if even slightly ill.
Keep your guests to 10 people or less.
    Wear a face mask.
  • Avoid buffet-style or self-serve food stations and wear gloves if serving food.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
    Use disposable plates and utensils.
  • Practice social distancing and keep 6 feet apart.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch areas frequently.
  • Provide individually-packaged drinks. No punchbowls or drink dispensers.
  • Hold gatherings outdoors if possible.

As a reminder, the most common symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, fever (100.0 or greater) and shortness

of breath. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should call your health care provider before

going into the office. The provider may have special instructions for you and can help determine if you should be tested.

All Iowans are also encouraged to complete the online TestIowa assessment to evaluate their personal risk and if COVID-19 testing is recommended. Visit https://www.testiowa.com/en to complete your assessment today.
