FALLS CITY - The Falls City Recreation Board has decided to cancel all leagues sponsored by Falls City Recreation for 2020.

The leagues include small girls, Cookies, Pee wees, junior girls and  Traveling 14's.

Kory Huppert of the city recreation said the decision was made after careful deliberation due to a lack of interest in coaching and liability concerns surrounding the COVID-19 crisis.

A previous press release from city rec, said additional coaches are required for each team to ensure that players and their families complied with social distancing guidelines.

Sign up day was May 21, and Huppert said only a quarter of our desired amount of coaches for this upcoming season has registered.

A press release Friday said without the additional coaches, it makes it very difficult for everyone involved to meet the guidelines set forth by Gov. Ricketts and ensure the safety of our young players, coaches, and supporters.

The May 15 press release said the T-ball season and post-season tournaments had been canceled.
